TeamCHAC cycles 50km and raises more than £800

Congratulations to TeamCHAC on completing the KM Big Ride on Sunday 28 April. The team of six riders – Iain Frame, Hayley Gibson, Racheal Massingham, Richard Miller Kim Pegg and CHAC trustee Sarah Slowe – cycled 50km around Kent to raise money for CHAC and for the KM Charity.

The beginning of the race brought with it some longer uphills than expected, leading to some cursing that CHAC Chair Nick Piška wasn’t taking part on this occasion:

A windy, hilly cycle ride on a Sunday morning? Sure. Only next year it is Nick (P)’s turn. And he will go 100km.

This wasn’t helped by a brief ‘detour’ when the team took a wrong-turn. There was also gratitude for the snacks provided by the organisers. As Hayley Gibson summarised: “I got lost, my chain came off, and there were many hills. At the 25km mark: I've never been so glad to see a banana!”

It was tough, so so tough but the biscuits and tea at the half way point along with the packet of crisps at the end make it all worth it!

The initial fundraising target of £500 was smashed, and the new fundraising target of £800 has now also been broken – however, it is still possible to donate, so we’ve raised our target again to £1,000! If you haven’t done so already, please help us reach this target by donating here.

A couple of riders couldn’t make it on the day, so there’ll be a replacement 50km ride – and this time the Chair will be along for the ride.
